Man shot dead in Newport News on Sunday morning: Police

NEWPORT NEWS, Virginia – Police say a man was killed in a shooting in the East End neighborhood of Newport News in the early hours of Sunday morning.

According to a press release, ShotSpotter technology alerted officers to shots fired around 2:13 a.m. on 36th Street near Madison and Marshall Avenues.

According to police, when they arrived, officers found a man shot dead. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
