Bryan man arrested for sexual assault of a child

A Bryan man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly sexually assaulting a child under the age of 14, according to Bryan police.

Jeremiah Botley, 28, was charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child, according to Brazos County Jail records. Botley was also charged with burglary of a vehicle in an unrelated incident.

On February 28, 2023, police said they received a report that Botley had allegedly assaulted an 11-year-old.

On May 8, at approximately 1:41 a.m., police responded to a report of a burglary of a motor vehicle in the 1200 block of Hollow Circle.

According to police, the vehicle theft victim positively identified Botley as the man who broke into her vehicle. Police said Botley told officers he didn’t break into any cars and that he only returned to his hotel after meeting someone he knew from a dating app.

Aggravated sexual abuse of a child is a first-degree felony punishable by up to 99 years in prison and a maximum fine of $10,000. Burglary of a vehicle is a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in prison and a $4,000 fine.

According to jail records, Botley is currently being held on $52,000 bond.

Identifying details in the probable cause report were redacted by the Brazos County District Attorney’s Office to protect the victim’s identity.
