Maine teenager killed in car crash in Burnham

Police say a man from the city of Detroit, Maine, was apparently speeding when he crashed into a tree in Burnham on Wednesday morning. Just after 5 a.m., police were called to Winnecook Road for a report of a single-car crash. The Waldo County Sheriff’s Office said 18-year-old Paul Raye Jr. was driving a Saab 9-2X when he lost control on a curve and crashed into a tree. He died at the scene. Police were still investigating Thursday but said speed appeared to be a factor.

According to police, a man from the city of Detroit in the state of Maine was apparently driving too fast when he crashed into a tree in Burnham on Wednesday morning.

Shortly after 5 a.m., police were called to Winnecook Road for a report of a single-car accident.

The Waldo County Sheriff’s Office reports that 18-year-old Paul Raye Jr. was driving a Saab 9-2X when he lost control on a curve and struck a tree. He died at the scene.

Police were still investigating on Thursday, but said speed may have played a role.
