Rape: Man gets 20 years in prison for raping his niece | Thane News

Thane: A special court in Thane district has sentenced a man to 20 years of hard labor for raping and impregnating his 13-year-old niece. The court on Thursday found the accused guilty under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act on the basis of a doctor’s statement and DNA evidence. Special Judge DS Deshmukh convicted the accused and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on him. Special Public Prosecutor VG Kadu told the court that the family resides in Kalwa and the accused raped the girl on October 18, 2022, when no one was at home. A few months later, the girl complained of lower abdominal pain and a doctor confirmed that she was in the 16th week of pregnancy, the lawyer said.
