Police search for car as part of investigation into death of man abandoned outside Inova Alexandria Hospital

Alexandria police are investigating the death of a man who was apparently abandoned outside a Virginia hospital early Wednesday morning.

Police responded to Inova Alexandria Hospital at 3:03 a.m. after a man was found on the ground outside one of the hospital entrances, a news release said. Hospital staff attempted to save the life of the man, who had been shot multiple times, but he succumbed to his injuries.

The man’s identity has not yet been made public and next of kin have yet to be notified.

Alexandria police have released photos of a car they believe may be involved: a dark gray four-door 2008 Mercedes-Benz C-Class with a Virginia license plate reading “RX22K.”

Police are asking anyone who sees the vehicle to call 911 and notify their local police department.
