The Atlanta Falcons attempted to add another talented quarterback to the 90-man roster

According to ESPN Adam Schefter, the Atlanta Falcons attempted to add quarterback Nathan Rourke to their 90-man roster. The talented Rourke most recently played with the Jacksonville Jaguars and New England Patriots before ultimately being assigned to the New York Giants on waivers.

On the surface, this is remarkable considering how they have managed their quarterback room thus far and the resources they have allocated to ensure it is as lethal as possible. This offseason, Atlanta has:

However, Atlanta still has four spots remaining on its 90-man roster after signing all of its UDFAs and is already confident in its roster as constructed. If you are Terry Fontenot, why not call on another competent arm? What happens if Paddock doesn’t prove to be a good fourth emergency quarterback? What happens if one of these quarterbacks doesn’t make it through training camp, God forbid?

With Rourke signing in New York, this isn’t a story and unfortunately headlines like these will continue to happen as long as the Falcons have Penix lining up behind Cousins.
