Some professionals say Georgia’s film industry is in decline – WSB-TV Channel 2

ATLANTA — Georgia’s film industry has started to slow down.

The tepid start to 2024 follows last year’s writers’ and actors’ strike.

Channel 2’s Elizabeth Rawlins spoke with industry players and professionals who have witnessed the decline.

It is estimated that there will be nearly 40% fewer productions in Georgia this year compared to last year.

Atlanta makeup artist Carla Wallace is currently working on set in metro Atlanta, but said work this year has been difficult to find.

“I know people who have lost their homes. I know people who lost their cars, had to downsize or find roommates,” she said. “And when you’re a union member, you sometimes worry about your benefits. »

The good news is that some say things are starting to rebound.
