2 people arrested after attempted robbery and shooting of man in Orlando

Two men were arrested Sunday for attempting to rob and then shooting a man as he left his home near Lake Ivanhoe, according to Orlando police.

According to OPD, police were called to the home on North Ivanhoe Boulevard around 5:40 a.m. for a shooting.

The suspects – Kenny C. Mason, 24, and James T. Houston, 25 – saw a man leaving his home and approached him, demanding his belongings and car at gunpoint, the agency said. When the man tried to run back into his home, he was shot by one of the men.

OPD said the Orlando Fire Department arrived on scene and transported the man to a nearby hospital where he is in stable condition.

The suspects were arrested by patrol officers and face several charges, including burglary, robbery, aggravated assault and attempted murder, police said.

OPD believed Mason and Houston were in the area attempting several car break-ins when they found a firearm in an unlocked car and shot the man with it.

The police investigation is ongoing.
