British television presenter and healthy lifestyle advocate Michael Mosley has been found dead on the Greek island of Symi, a deputy mayor of the island told Reuters on Sunday.

Mosley, 67, had been missing since Wednesday after walking alone along a coastal path in scorching heat.

Police spokeswoman Constantina Dimoglidou had previously stated that the body of a person believed to be Mosley had been found in the Agia Marina area, but identification was still pending.

“The mayor of the island and a journalist from state television ERT were filming the area of ​​Agia Marina when they discovered the body,” said deputy mayor Nikitas Grillis. “It is definitely him.”

Another police official said the body was found on rocky ground near the sea, refuting earlier reports that the body was found in a cave. Police were examining the scene.
