Attention! Caltrain is suspending local passenger service on Saturdays and Sundays

*Caltrain continues “critical testing” of new electric trains.

To complete critical electrification testing in a timely manner, Caltrain will suspend commuter service on Saturday, June 8 and Sunday, June 9.

In order to complete critical electrification testing in time to begin passenger service in fall 2024, Caltrain will suspend transportation operations on Saturday, June 8 and Sunday, June 9 and ask riders to find alternatives for transportation from San Francisco to San Jose and from San Jose to San Francisco.

Caltrain’s website, brochures, and in-app ads encouraged thousands of users to avoid delays and surprises during the second weekend in June.

On the website www.caltrain.com It was stated that the Bay Transportation Company will adjust weekend service in 2024. Regular service will be available during the month of May. The next service adjustment is scheduled for the weekend of June 8 and 9.

“To support the testing of the electric trains, there will be no train service between San Francisco and San José and between San José and San Francisco on June 8 and 9,” he specifies.

Caltrain offers limited bus service only at the San Jose Diridon, Palo Alto, and Millbrae stations. Passenger capacity on the buses is limited. There are no stops between these stations, and there is no bus service north of Millbrae.

It urges the thousands of rail users to “consider alternative modes of transportation such as Muni, VTA, SamTrans, or transfer to BART from the bus bridge in Millbrae to travel to/from San Francisco.”

It explains that fares will be charged on BART and other transit systems. We thank everyone for their patience as we work to improve the railroad.

Those who want to travel from San Francisco to Palo Alto and San Jose must resort to alternative transportation, such as the Bart service, which takes them to the Millbrae station. From there, there is limited bus service. Bus service is only available to the San Jose Diridon, Palo Alto and Millbrae stations.
