LIV Golf Tour Houston Odds & Expert Betting Predictions

After more than a month of hiatus, LIV returns to Houston this week for its eighth event of the 2024 season. LIV has done a good job scheduling events around the major tournaments, as this week will serve as preparation for some players for next week’s US Open. Jon Rahm is once again the betting favorite at 7-1 odds heading to the Lone Star State, although he has yet to win on Tour. He finished in the top 10 in all seven events this season. Joaquin Niemann, Bryson DeChambeau and Tyrrell Hatton are the next closest golfers on the odds chart to win this Houston event. Doc’s Sports will break down some of the best action of the coming week below.

Course features of those who can win or secure winning golf bets

Houston Golf Club will host this week’s LIV event and is located in Humble, Texas. The layout will play as a par 72 and just north of 7,400 yards. The track was designed by the famous architect Rees Jones and the great champion David Toms. The Golf Club of Houston opened in 2005 and is ranked among the top 50 courses in the state of Texas. With the length of the course, it seems like long ball hitters will thrive, but the fairways are littered with bunkers and hazards. Long iron play and putting will be the key elements to tackle this week. The greens are made from Bermudagrass Mini Verde and should roll fast in the Texas heat. The 315 yard Par 4 12th hole should be playable for most players and the 18th hole is guarded by a lake on the left side of the fairway and bordering the entire left side of the green, which could add some drama to the section.

Bryson DeChambeau +800

DeChambeau comes into this event in great form and showed his skills at Valhalla in the PGA Championship, losing by one stroke. He also competed in the Masters earlier in the year, reminding the world of his abilities to win major tournaments. The 30-year-old has won eight times on the PGA Tour and has two LIV victories under his belt before Houston. He is one of the longest drivers on the LIV Tour and has four par 5s to attack this week, as well as a playable par 4 12th hole. DeChambeau went to college in Texas and still lives there. Look for him to put on a clinic in front of his supporters in Houston.

Talor Gooch +1600

Besides Jon Rahm, Gooch is the best player on the LIV Tour without a win this season. Hopefully that changes after this weekend in Texas. His overall game is built around his solid iron game and his ribbed putter gives him plenty of advantage this week. Gooch has played this course twice on the PGA Tour and notched a T4 in 2019. He has some momentum on his side as he has gained strokes on both approach and putting at the 2024 PGA Championship. Look for Gooch to fight for his first win of 24 this week.

Sergio Garcia +4000

We get a good price for Garcia this week on a course where he has played well during his career. He’s still looking for his first career LIV win, as he’s been close three times and each ended in a playoff loss. Sergio has never missed a cut on this course and has a T3 finish on his card. He has been widely considered one of the best iron players throughout his career and on the LIV Tour. His putting is hit or miss and that will either lead to success this week or downfall. He currently resides in Austin, Texas and has played extremely well in the state during his career. Look for Garcia to be in the mix this week.
