Man found dead, shot after car crash in Franklinton

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — A male driver involved in a crash in the Franklinton neighborhood west of downtown Columbus was shot and killed Tuesday evening.

A Columbus Police spokesperson said they received a call just before 10:45 p.m. that a vehicle had crashed into parked cars and a pole on 700th Street at Sullivant Avenue. Police found the man in the car and took him to the hospital in critical condition. The victim was pronounced dead at the hospital at 11:03 p.m.

Doctors determined the victim had been shot, prompting police to launch a homicide investigation, according to Columbus police. CPD said it did not know where the shooting occurred, but it did not believe it occurred near the crash site.
