A 6-year-old boy died in North Pole on Saturday when he tried to cross a street on his bicycle and was struck by a sedan, Alaska State Police said.

The boy made an abrupt turn to cross Badger’s Road just before the collision at about 5:30 p.m., police said. North Pole Fire Department paramedics administered first aid, but the boy died at the scene, police said.

The driver was still in the area and no charges have been filed, police spokesman John Dougherty said Tuesday.
