Man killed in overnight shooting, Columbia police say

A man was killed in an overnight shooting, Columbia police said Sunday.

According to police, the shooting occurred around 12:30 a.m. in the 1400 block of Colonial Life Boulevard. That’s near the intersection with Bush River Road, not far from Exit 107 on Interstate 26.

About four hours after the shooting was first reported, police confirmed the death of a man.

The identity of the victim has not been publicly released by the Richland County Coroner’s Office.

No further injuries were reported.

There was no information on a shooter(s) or other persons involved in the shooting. Information on a possible motive for the shooting was not available.

No arrests have been reported, but police are following up on additional leads and continuing to investigate the shooting.
