Jamal Murray fined $100,000 and avoids suspension

Nuggets guard Jamal Murray was fined $100,000 for throwing multiple objects toward a game official during Game 2 of their playoff series against him Timberwolvesthe league announced in a statement Press release. However, Murray was able to avert a ban.

Murray threw a towel toward the court in the second quarter of the Nuggets’ 106-80 loss on Monday and then threw a heat pack that made its way onto the court during the live game (Twitter video link).

The incident, the Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch was described as “dangerous” and “inexcusable” after the game and was not caught by the match officials at the moment. Head of the referee team Marc Davis said Murray would have been assessed a technical foul if they had known Murray had thrown the heat pack.

Murray, who scored just eight points on 3 of 18 shooting, battled a calf injury during the playoffs.
