Former Greenburgh-Graham School District officials arrested on corruption charges

The former superintendent and a former security systems specialist in the Greenburgh-Graham School District were arrested after being accused of stealing school funds.

The Westchester County District Attorney and State Comptroller said Oliver Levy and Surendra Kumar were arrested Thursday on corruption charges for allegedly stealing more than $12,000 in school funds.

Prosecutors believe that the funds intended for the students were used to purchase designer items and pay personal expenses over a period of four years.

The school district had previously placed both Levy and Kumar on leave.

The school district said in a statement that it is cooperating with the investigation and reviewing its practices.
