Man dies in rubber dinghy accident in Carbon County

LEHIGHTON, Pennsylvania – A man is dead after a tubing accident in Carbon County.

Dive teams from multiple agencies responded to the Lehigh River in Parryville Borough near Lehighton around 1:20 p.m. Saturday to locate a man in the water.

According to the Carbon County Coroner’s Office, 44-year-old Chad Mumbauer of Bethlehem died in what is being investigated as a rafting accident on the river.

An autopsy is scheduled for May 27.

Mumbauer’s death remains under investigation by the medical examiner and Lehighton police.
