We did not suspend Abure – LP Chairman

In a dramatic twist, the Labour Party Ward 3 chairman in Esan North East Local Government Area, Thomson Valentine Ehigbese, has denied the suspension of the party’s national chairman, Julius Abure.

Recall that the party’s Edo State Chairman, Kelly Ogbalo, said in a press release that Abure was suspended after the state government confirmed his suspension by the Third Ward in Esan North East Local Government Area.

“The suspension was announced after the state government ratified the suspension of Abure from Ward 3 of Esan North East Local Government Area.

Abure is suspended on a series of allegations bordering on fraud, party mismanagement and anti-party activities,” the statement said.

However, in a video shared online, District 3 Chairman Ehigbese urged Nigerians to ignore the alleged suspension of the party chairman because it did not come from his district.

In the viral video, he said: “My name is Thomson Valentine Ehigbese, Chairman of Esan North East Local Government Ward 3 of the Labour Party.

When I woke up this morning, I had the shocking news that the State Chairman of the party, Mr Kelly Ogbalo, declared at a press conference that the Third District Chairman had suspended the National Chairman of our great party.

“I want to tell the press and everyone to ignore this information. It is not correct. I do not know where this lie comes from. We, the members of the third district of the party, are very loyal to the chairman of our party. We did not suspend him. We have nothing to do with this suspension.”

“I use this medium to ask the entire press to ignore this information. It is not correct. I do not know where it came from. Abure remains the national chairman of our party.”

“Last year something similar happened; we all went to court and the state chairman got his verdict in court. Ultimately, as district chairman, I had no constitutional authority to suspend the state chairman.”
