Fatal car accident creates dangerous situation in Chesapeake

Chesapeake, VA – A fatal car accident Wednesday morning resulted in a hazardous materials incident on Route 58. The collision involved a semi-truck and a sedan, resulting in the death of the adult male driver of the sedan. The tractor-trailer, traveling westbound, was attempting a U-turn when the sedan traveling eastbound collided with it.

The Chesapeake Police Crash Reconstruction Team arrived to further investigate the accident.

The tractor-trailer driver remained at the scene as authorities continue to investigate the incident. Following the accident, a significant amount of diesel fuel spilled onto the eastbound lanes, requiring HAZMAT crews to intervene for cleanup efforts.
