30 years for raping a 14-year-old

Anis was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment for each count under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code, to be served concurrently.

Sandakan: A 51-year-old Indonesian man has been sentenced by the court to a total of 30 years in prison for raping a 14-year-old girl twice in Kinabatangan. Anis Serrang pleaded guilty before Judge Zaini Fishir @ Fisal to committing the offence in a forest area in March 2023 and March 2024.

Anis was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment for each charge under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code, and ordered to serve the term concurrently. He was then ordered to be handed over to the Immigration Department for deportation. The court heard that the victim gave birth to a baby boy at 1am on April 19. The medical officer contacted Kinabatangan Police Station to file a police report, which led to Anis being arrested on April 25.
