Rams’ new star explains how aggressive LA was in signing him

The Los Angeles Rams had a big offseason thanks to the draft and free agency. Both were nice to the Rams, but their best signing this offseason was arguably the signing of free agent cornerback Tre’Davious White.

White signed with the Rams in late March on a one-year, $10 million deal and, so far, it’s been a perfect fit. The Buffalo Bills veteran spent seven seasons in Orchard Park and will now embark on a new journey under the bright lights of Los Angeles.

Although the last few seasons have not been very kind to White, mainly due to injuries, the 29-year-old has found hope and optimism. In addition, he has landed where he is really wanted.

In a recent interview with media personality Kay Adams, White expressed the consistency with which the Rams have been able to land his talent this past offseason.

“The Rams kept calling me and urging me,” White said. “They really wanted me. If someone does that, it’s a sign. Another thing, the team doctor, Dr. Neal ElAttrache, operated on me, and he was the team doctor here, so that was another blessing, so I thought, ‘This is a sign.’ Everything was geared toward me, and these guys took care of me. They did a great job.”

The former All-Pro cornerback has played just 21 games over the past three seasons since his spectacular 2020 season. It’s been a struggle to stay on the field lately, but regardless, the Rams wanted his star power because when White is healthy, he’s among the best in the league.

The Rams are never ones to shy away from big-name talent, and White still is. In 82 career games, White has 18 interceptions, 311 total tackles, 12 tackles for loss, six quarterback hits, 68 passes defensed, five forced fumbles (all recovered) and one touchdown.

It will be difficult to replicate his early-career numbers. However, as long as he is healthy and available, the Rams can’t ask for much more.
