Dispute leads to fatal shooting of a 62-year-old man, Bessemer police say

BESSEMER, Alabama (WBRC) – Bessemer Police say a person was shot Saturday night.

The shooting occurred on July 27 around 10 p.m. in the 2800 block of Dartmouth Avenue.

When police arrived at the scene, they found a man with an apparent gunshot wound.

The Bessemer Fire Department arrived and pronounced the man dead.

According to Bessemer police, witnesses at the scene reported an altercation between the suspect and the victim.

On Monday, the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 62-year-old Lee Curtis Tate of Bessemer.

Police told us there were several witnesses to the shooting.

There is currently no one in custody.
