Police say Omar Leos, 30, sold an investigator half an ounce of cocaine during an undercover operation, which is why he was arrested on July 10, according to an affidavit.

According to the affidavit, the Weld County Drug Enforcement Unit initiated the undercover operation. An undercover agent contacted Leos shortly before noon on June 6 and asked him to purchase a “half bottle,” or half an ounce, of cocaine the next day.

After a series of text messages, police say Leos and the investigator agreed to meet at Leos’ address in a trailer park in the 400 block of North 35th Avenue. Shortly before 6 p.m. the next day, the undercover investigator — equipped with a hidden camera and recording device — arrived at the address and sent Leos a text message, the affidavit states.

About 15 minutes later, police said, Leos exited the trailer and walked to the investigator’s vehicle. He spoke briefly with two investigators before handing over the suspected cocaine, the affidavit states.

The undercover agent met with other officers shortly afterwards and handed over the suspected cocaine. The cocaine test later showed a positive result and weighed 15.3 grams including packaging, according to the affidavit.

Leos was released on $20,000 bail the same day he was arrested and has a hearing in Weld District Court on August 22.
