Police find stolen SUV in fatal theft in Dumfries | Headlines

A Manassas-area man is wanted for first-degree murder in connection with a carjacking and fatal hit-and-run last weekend near Montclair.

Police issued arrest warrants Friday for Keith Anthony McBride, 41, of the 7600 block of Helmsdale Place in Manassas, charging him with murder, hit-and-run and grand theft auto, Prince William County police Lt. Jonathan Perok said in a news release. Attempts to locate him were unsuccessful Friday evening, police said.

Surveillance images of the suspect who stole a car in the Montclair area, ran over the owner and fatally injured him.




According to police, the crime occurred on July 20 at 6:53 p.m. at the Oasis at Montclair apartment complex in the 16400 block of Stedham Circle. The victim, 37-year-old Jose Vasquez Galvan of Dumfries, was approached by an unknown man in the parking lot. During the encounter, the suspect got into the victim’s gold SUV and began backing up.

Galvan, who was outside, clung to his SUV before it struck another unoccupied car and drove forward, throwing him off and then running over him, police said.

The suspect drove the stolen SUV out of the area before police arrived at the scene.

Galvan was taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries and died two days later. Police found his stolen SUV in a Dale City neighborhood on Tuesday.
