Who will be the darling of Buffalo Bills training camp in 2024?

Welcome to our weekend chat, Buffalo Bills fans.

Buffalo Bills training camp is open! Today we’re talking about the darlings of training camp. Which Buffalo Bills player will fans hold on to and not let go? Here are some candidates:

S. Damar Hamlin

Hamlin’s story is very compelling, but he lost out on Comeback Player of the Year last season because he didn’t get much play in 2023. That could change because he’s a veteran who understands the complexities of Sean McDermott’s defensive secondary. The Bills signed veteran Mike Edwards and drafted Cole Bishop in the second round, but Hamlin was the starter on Day 1. The trio will likely rotate throughout camp, but Hamlin is the sentimental favorite heading into a contract year.

WR Andy Isabella

The Bills’ 2023 training camp darling, Isabella spent the entire 2023 season on the practice squad and faces an uphill climb to the active roster once again. The former second-round pick has talent, but he was released by the Cardinals in his fourth season. He went from the practice squad to the Baltimore Ravens’ active roster in 2022 before signing with Buffalo.

OL Sedrick Van Pran-Granger

O’Cyrus Torrence started at fullback last training camp and never gave up the position. SVPG will have to come from behind to earn a starting job, but if he can come in and crush a few players to get into the starting five, I think his power will win him over fans. It would be nice if he could beat out David Edwards.

CB Kaiir Elam

The former first-round pick will have a chance to play a significant role in the Bills’ defense, either as a starter or a backup. Frankly, the Bills really need him to play a major role in 2024 after Tre’Davious White leaves. For now, fans just want a return on their investment, and if he shows signs of success, they might hang on to him.

FROM Von Miller

Hear me out; I know future Hall of Famer Miller isn’t the usual camp darling. He said he shouldn’t have played at all in 2023 after returning from his torn ACL on Thanksgiving 2022. I think despite his off-field situation, the fans and team really want him to succeed in 2024 and will support him. You can probably include Matt Milano in the basket of players returning from injury.
