Terrorist attack near Gaza: Canadian attempts knife attack in southern Israel – Israel News

A man with a knife tried to stab people at the entrance to Kibbutz Netiv HaAsara in the Gaza border area on Monday. He was shot by the kibbutz’s security forces, the IDF and police said.

“A suspect arrived at the entrance of Netiv HaAsara, got out of his vehicle and threatened members of the community’s rapid response team operating in the area with a knife,” the IDF later reported of the incident.

The terrorist, armed with a knife, could not be stopped after the rapid reaction force opened fire on the suspect.

Magen David Adom (MDA) medics reported that the terrorist had been arrested and a 61-year-old woman was in shock.

According to MDA, no one was physically injured

MDA paramedics Noa Abitbul and Yossi Smadga described what they saw when they arrived: “We were told that a terrorist had arrived at the scene, attempted a knife attack and was prevented from doing so by security forces.

“We have searched the area to ensure there are no physical injuries. A 61-year-old woman suffering from anxiety symptoms is being treated on site by MDA teams and does not need to be taken to hospital for the time being.”

According to Israeli media reports, the terrorist was a Canadian citizen who arrived at the entrance of the kibbutz and claimed: “The IDF is killing civilians in Gaza.”

The Israeli military later confirmed that the suspect was a foreigner. According to the military, the person arrived in the area from Israel itself – and not from Gaza.
