No security incident or cyber attack, CrowdStrike boss confirms to News18 Tech

CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz confirmed the details of the global outage on Friday. News18 Technology that has affected millions of Windows and Microsoft customers. He has spoken about the details of the problem that has taken Windows systems offline and assured Mac and Linux users that they are safe from this incident.

CrowdStrike CEO confirms outage details

In the official statement to News18 Tech, Kurtz assured that Friday’s CrowdStrike outage was neither a security incident nor a cyberattack. He points out that the issue was caused by a defect in a single content update for Windows hosts. Kurtz also mentioned that Mac and Linux hosts are not affected by the CrowdStrike issue, which seems to be consistent with reports from Windows and Microsoft customers that mostly came in throughout the day.

He also talks about identifying the issue, isolating it for further investigation, and deploying a fix for the problem. “The issue has been identified, isolated, and a fix deployed. We direct customers to the support portal for the latest updates and will continue to provide full and continuous updates on our website.”

Since most services in banks, airports and even emergency networks run on Windows systems, CrowdStrike advises contacting the security company’s local contacts to resolve this issue. “We also recommend that organizations ensure they communicate with CrowdStrike representatives through official channels. Our team is fully mobilized to ensure the security and stability of CrowdStrike customers.”

Kurtz did not specify the problem that caused this massive global outage, but it appears that the company is working hard to get millions of systems back online as quickly as possible.
