Video surveillance released during sexual assault investigation

Detectives have released surveillance images of a man they wanted to speak to after a woman was allegedly ambushed on the street and became the victim of a “truly gruesome” sexual assault.

The alleged attack occurred in Hyde, Tameside, at around 06:40 BST on Friday, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.

The woman said she was attacked from behind and pushed onto a nearby patch of grass before being subjected to a “serious sexual assault.”

GMP have released three images of a man they believe may assist with the investigation.

The woman was walking along Grafton Street, just off Clark Way, when her attacker allegedly attacked her, police said.

She is supported by specialist staff.

Det Insp Andrew Day said: “We take reports of sexual offences very seriously and have conducted extensive and thorough investigations since they were reported to us.”

“It is completely unacceptable to attack anyone in this way and we are working tirelessly to find anyone who might recognise the man pictured.”

The police are also asking anyone who was in the area at the time or who has dashcam or doorbell footage to contact them.
