Designer talks about airplane incident

In a recent interview on the podcast “No Jumper,” Desiigner spoke about the events that led him to expose himself on an international flight.

As The Shade Room previously reported, the “Panda” rapper was charged with public indecency for allegedly masturbating on a flight in 2023. The incident occurred in April.

Speaking to Adam22, the Brooklyn-based musician mentioned that he was not in the right place at the time.

“Mentally, I wasn’t in the right place, Adam. I had a long time to think about it. Mentally, I was literally not in the right place. I was just having so much fun, I couldn’t control myself at the time. And I just kept going,” Desiigner said.

Desiigner said he was “completely stoned” and attributed his behavior to his diet and medications.

“I didn’t know what I was doing. I was completely out of my mind. This was when I was vegan and I wasn’t eating enough sugar. And stuff like that. I was kind of out of my mind. It was an OBE experience. This really wasn’t my character. I was on medication,” Desiigner continued.

Social media reactions to the rapper

Roomies were quick to share their thoughts on Desiigner’s revelations in The Shade Room’s comments section. Many social media users were shocked by his transformation and praised him for improving his health.

Instagram user @jay.ayee wrote: He looks so different…healthier.”

Instagram user @niikkii_nik wrote: So he was basically a drug addict and now he’s not. He looks completely different with the weight…”

While Instagram user @officialdeonte wrote: This is the first time I have heard him speak so clearly 😂”

Then Instagram user @barbie_killer_ wrote: Who the hell is this well-spoken, understandable young man!?!?”

Instagram user @neee.n.eee wrote: I think he’s trying to say he was malnourished and hallucinating? 🤔”

Another Instagram user @callme_craze wrote:I didn’t even hear the conversation because I spent the first half of the video looking for a designer 😂”

Most recently Instagram user @mannysolo wrote: The moral of the story is: stay away from drugs, don’t think you’re above others because of your status, and take time to love yourself before you lose yourself.”

This is what happened to Desiigner

Following the 2023 plane incident, Desiigner released a statement about his mental health, saying that he was “ashamed of his actions.” He also revealed that he had been “medicated” and planned to check himself into a clinic.

“I am ashamed of what I did on that plane. I have landed back in the states and am checking myself into a facility to help me. I will be canceling all of my shows and commitments until further notice. Mental health is real, people, please pray for me. If you are not feeling like yourself, please get help.”

According to TSR, the “Champions” artist had just finished performing abroad and was on his way back to the USA.

TMZ reported that Designer exposed himself and behaved inappropriately on board a Delta first-class aircraft.

The newspaper also noted that he did not appear impaired during his police questioning. Authorities still charged him with causing a public nuisance.

According to TSR, Desiigner’s attorney Ryan Garry stated that he would only register as a sex offender if required to do so by California or another government agency.

“The parties in this case, after extensive research and consultation with attorneys in California, have reached the legal conclusion that this misdemeanor conviction does not require Mr. Selby to register as a sex offender. If any government agency in California disagrees with our analysis, we will address the matter at that time,” Garry stated.
