According to KABC, the incident occurred on May 2nd. The entire encounter was captured on video. It showed a man going behind the counter and allegedly punching manager Monique Larios in the face. Another customer and employees helped fight the man.

“I still can’t feel half of my face,” Larios said. “I’m afraid there will be (permanent) damage. I’ve never been so numb that my face felt like a mask.”

“I didn’t expect that,” Larios said, according to the news agency. “He comes around the corner… I’m like, ‘What are you going to do?’ Hit me for ham?’ And he hit me. He hit me. All I could remember was black.”

Larios said she was called to work that day by her co-workers because a man was upset because he couldn’t get double ham on his sandwich, CBS News reported. The employees were able to prove that the man had only paid for six additional slices of ham, not twelve.

The man was identified by CBS News as George Sandoval. He was arrested by Madera Police Department officers on a charge of assault.
