Adams County man arrested and charged with sexual abuse of a child

SPRINGVILLE, Wisconsin – Adams County Sheriff’s officials arrested a man last week on suspicion of sexually abusing a child.

According to Sheriff Brent York, a call came into the Adams County dispatch center at approximately 5:21 a.m. on July 2. The caller said a member of her family told her that she had been sexually abused multiple times by someone known to the family.

The suspect was identified as Walter Ismael Garcia Lazo, 33, of Potter. He was arrested later that morning following a traffic stop.

Online court records show Garcia Lazo is charged with two counts of sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12. During a hearing last Friday, his bail was set at $30,000.

As a condition of his bail, Garcia Lazo is prohibited from having contact with minors and must provide a DNA sample.

York also said that the Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement Office (ICE) has issued an immigration arrest warrant for Garcia Lazo.

Garcia Lazo’s next court date is scheduled for July 30.
