Father who sexually abused his daughter from the age of six receives 17 years

The man who sexually exploited his daughter from the age of 6, including during five holidays in Ukraine and Egypt between 2018 and 2022, was sentenced to 17 years in prison. The court also ordered the confiscation of the money in excess of 1 million lei that the accused received from a client abroad for the systematic distribution of pornographic material featuring his own daughter. The accused must pay his daughters 100,000 lei in non-pecuniary damages, IPN reports.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases stated that the defendant, aged over 50, committed the crimes from 2018 (when his daughter was 6 years old) to 2022, including during holidays abroad. There, he exploited his authority as a father to have his daughter perform explicit sexual acts, which were recorded in photos and videos. These acts amounted to commercial sexual exploitation of the child and the production of pornographic material featuring minors – images that were also made available on a website for money.

In order for his daughter to see the production of pornography and its sexual exploitation as normal, he made them watch pornographic material together. The perpetrator also forced his daughter to perform sexual acts in relation to him. The daughter confessed that her father rewarded her with various gifts for her silence. According to psychological reports, the victim was isolated from other family members through the father’s influence so that he could exercise control over the child.

In addition, the Buiucani Court of the city of Chisinau found that in 2013 the man had published pornographic material featuring his eldest daughter (then 11 years old) on a Russian website. For this purpose, he had photographed her with his phone and posted dozens of images of her sexual organs in an obscene manner online.

The man has partially admitted his guilt and remains in state care. His daughter continues to receive protection and psychological care in a care center.

After the Buiucani court announced its verdict, prosecutors appealed the verdict before the Chisinau Court of Appeal, demanding a reduction in the sentence from 17 to 20 years in prison.

The public prosecutor’s office also initiated criminal proceedings against customers who had purchased pornographic images and videos from the defendant.
