Big WWE Superstar “suspended and fined after incident with boss”

WWE has announced that Drew McIntyre has been fined and suspended following a confrontation with Adam Pearce following Money In The Bank.

The Scottish warrior’s rivalry with CM Punk took another dramatic turn on Saturday night when he cashed in his MITB briefcase in the middle of Damian Priest’s World Heavyweight Title defense against Seth Rollins.

McIntyre seemed ready to regain the championship, but Punk appeared under the ring and went on the attack, costing him the title for the third time this year.

The story continues after the premier live event – which also saw John Cena announce his retirement – went off the air, with the veteran heavyweight interrupting the Money In The Bank post-show to rant about the way things went.

Raw General Manager Adam Pearce tried to calm him down, but was elbowed in the face, prompting McIntyre’s longtime friend Wade Barrett to calm him down as well.

He was taken away, but Pearce has now confirmed that in addition to a fine for both men, McIntyre has also been “suspended indefinitely”.

“The elephant in the room,” he said in a video announcing tomorrow’s episode of Raw.

“Everyone saw what happened at MITB and afterward. For that reason and after careful consideration, I hereby impose an undisclosed fine of an undisclosed amount against CM Punk and Drew McIntyre for their actions.

“Furthermore, I hereby officially and indefinitely suspend Drew McIntyre for elbowing me in the teeth.”

Meanwhile, Pearce hinted that there will be “more happening tomorrow night” on the weekly show.

The unexpected plot twist comes weeks after McIntyre – in character – announced he was leaving WWE after Punk cost him a dream win in his hometown in the main event of Clash At The Castle in Glasgow last month.

Now the two stars seem to be on a collision course and fans expect the two to face off at SummerSlam in Cleveland, Ohio on August 3.

However, MITB added a complication to the whole situation, as Punk’s actions helped Priest retain his title, meaning Rollins lost and – according to the agreed stipulations – cannot challenge for the World Heavyweight Title as long as the Archer of Infamy holds it.

When he realized what had happened, he glared angrily at the voice of the voiceless, bringing the story full circle and setting all three men up for confrontation in the weeks and months to come.

There could be a potential triple threat at SummerSlam, especially since Priest will have to defend his title against the winner of the 2024 King of the Ring, GUNTHER.

WWE Raw airs Monday nights at 1 a.m. on TNT Sports 1.
