Fireworks ban in county parks reaffirmed after grass fire incident

SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — An internal investigation is underway after a grass fire Thursday night prompted county authorities to reaffirm rules regarding fireworks in county parks and within city limits.

Sheriff’s deputies and volunteer firefighters from Dove Creek responded to the fire in West Tom Green County.

District Judge Lane Carter addressed the incident and emphasized that fireworks are prohibited in county parks.

“We want to point out that the discharge of fireworks is not permitted in our county parks,” Carter said. “It can be a criminal offense by us kicking you out of the park, and it also poses a danger to our first responders. We want everyone to be safe.”

Judge Carter also pointed out that fireworks in county parks are only allowed with special permits.
