Dead Indian Memorial Fire burns near Ashland | News

UPDATE 11:47 p.m.: The fire is now estimated at 65 acres. Firefighters continue to conduct an aggressive first strike and additional crews are arriving. A wildland task force of local emergency responders is also currently being dispatched.


ASHLAND, Oregon – NewsWatch 12 is tracking a 40-50 acre vegetation fire near 5448 DEAD INDIAN MEMORIAL RD. ODF and Jackson County Fire District #5 IAFF Local 2596 are on scene and conducting an aggressive initial attack. ODF has six additional fire engines and a tanker on the way. Additional crews are currently being requested for the morning.

Currently, no houses are threatened, but firefighters and emergency services are assessing the situation.

Escape routes/road closures: Traffic is closed in both directions on Jackson County Roads.
