Juvenile suspects arrested after leading Enfield police on a chase in a stolen vehicle

ENFIELD, Connecticut (WTNH) – Enfield police said they enlisted the help of a tracking dog, drone units and state police officers to arrest two juveniles accused of engaging officers in a chase on Wednesday.

At least one of the three suspects could not be located as of Thursday morning.

The incident began when police received a complaint around 3 a.m. Wednesday morning that suspects were attempting to break into parked vehicles in the Tolland Drive area.

When officers arrived to check the area, a gray Dodge Durango and a red Chevrolet SUV fled, sparking a chase with officers. However, officers did not intervene, per state policy.

An officer was able to activate a tire pressure valve on the Durango, which then came to a stop on Interstate 91 South. Three suspects fled on foot while officers pursued them. Two of the juvenile suspects were arrested.

The Durango was discovered to have been stolen from David Street in Enfield.

Police said they were assisted by their own canine and drone units, as well as East Windsor police, Hartford police and state police.

Police urged residents to always lock their vehicles when they are unattended.
