New footage shows a woman who used her dead uncle to “sign” a bank loan arriving by taxi – while the driver helps remove the body

It should have been a sure sign.

The Brazilian woman who took her dead uncle to a bank to sign a loan in her name got there by taxi – and a video even shows the driver helping her lift the body out of his car.

Érika de Souza Vieira Nunes was arrested on Tuesday after she took the body of her 68-year-old uncle Paulo Roberto Braga to a bank and then used his hand to sign an important document that gave her a loan of $3,400.

A recently surfaced video shows Nunes – who reportedly told police she had no knowledge of her uncle’s death – arriving at the bank by taxi while her uncle sits motionless in the passenger seat next to the ride-share driver.

In the silent footage, Nunes can be seen placing a wheelchair in front of the car door and reaching in to grab her deceased uncle.

Then the driver helps her pull him out and into the wheelchair, where her uncle is lying slumped with his head tilted to the right.

At one point, a man walks by and does a double take. He turns around and appears to speak to Nunes while signaling to Braga, but then continues on his way.

Nunes then pushes Braga into an elevator before another security camera records her running away down a hallway.

Another video taken the day before showed Nunes taking Braga, who was visibly alive, to the emergency room.

Nunes insisted that she knew about her relative’s death when she took him to the bank to sign documents that would have allowed her to take out a $3,400 loan.

Braga’s autopsy revealed that he died between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. local time on Tuesday. The cause of death was determined to be aspiration of stomach contents and heart failure.

According to police chief Fábio Luis, the way the blood had collected in the man’s blood vessels suggests that Braga did not die while sitting, but while lying down.

Braga’s toxicological tests are still pending.

Nunes is now accused of fraud and desecration of a corpse.

Her lawyer claimed that Nunes was suffering from mental health problems and may have had a nervous breakdown.

“Érika is undergoing psychological treatment and taking prescribed medication,” said lawyer Ana Carla de Souza Correa.

“I think she had a breakdown at that moment because of the medication. She seemed visibly disturbed.”

In a video recorded by a bank employee on Tuesday and first broadcast by TV Globo, Brazil’s largest broadcaster, Nunes can be seen talking to the dead man and lifting his hanging head.

“Uncle, are you listening? You have to sign (the loan agreement). If you don’t sign, it won’t work because I can’t sign for you,” Nunes says in the clip as he slides a pen back and forth between his limp fingers.

“Sign so you don’t give me any more headaches. I can’t take it anymore,” she adds.

When a bank employee notices that Braga has a strange skin color and looks unwell, Nunes responds.

“He’s like that. He doesn’t say anything.”
