BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man pleaded guilty Friday to an assault charge for striking and injuring his defense attorney in 2022, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Londarr S. Ward, 40, assaulted his defense attorney during a meeting inside the Erie County Correctional Facility on Sept. 27, 2022, officials said. Ward struck the victim with a closed fist, causing injuries to his face, shoulder and chest.

Ward, charged with second-degree assault, faces a maximum sentence of seven years in prison when he is sentenced Sept. 23.

Ward committed the attack while in pretrial detention after being arrested in connection with a string of convenience store robberies, authorities said. He was sentenced to 46 years in prison in April for a second violent offense, four counts of first-degree robbery and one count of fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.
