Accident on I-70 EB leaves one dead and three injured

INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana State Police are investigating a crash that left one person dead and three others injured on eastbound I-70 Thursday evening.

According to public police records, ISP officers were dispatched to the scene of a fatal crash between Merdian Street and Madison Avenue at around 8:33 p.m. According to ISP, one person died and at least three others were injured in the crash.


ISP confirmed that the injured were taken to hospitals in the greater Indianapolis area for treatment. As of the time of this article’s publication, ISP has not provided any further information on their condition or how many vehicles were involved in the crash.

According to INDOT, the three left lanes of I-70 EB are currently closed for the next hour and a half. ISP’s Crash Reconstruction Team also went to the scene to investigate the circumstances of the accident.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation and there is no information on when the lanes can be reopened.
