Man from Adilabad receives 20 years in prison for raping 7-year-old boy

HYDERABAD: A man accused of sexually abusing his seven-year-old son in Neradigonda in Adilabad district in June 2021 has been sentenced to 20 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 by P Shivaram Prasad, the special judge for Pocso cases in Adilabad.

The judge also awarded the boy a compensation of Rs 500,000. Besides the boy’s testimony, his sister, who was an eyewitness to this heinous crime, was the main witness during the trial who convinced the accused of his guilt.

On the day of the incident, when the boy was playing with his elder sister at home, the 30-year-old accused took him along and said they had to buy some things from a nearby kirana store.

When the boy did not return home after a long time, his sister looked for the boy and found him there. When the accused saw the girl, he fled. Following a complaint by the boy’s mother, a report was filed and the accused was arrested.

During the trial, the boy reported how the defendant abducted him from his home and attacked him. His sister also described how she went to look for her brother and saw that both the defendant and her brother were naked and that the defendant was attacking her brother.

Moreover, the boy’s medical examination revealed that he had been raped. The judge examined the evidence and 11 witnesses and found the accused guilty of raping the boy and sentenced him, Adilabad police officials said.
