Sign defaced with racist insult

SALT LAKE CITY – An electronic construction sign near Copper Hills High School in West Jordan was vandalized and labeled with a racial slur – a similar incident occurred last year in Salt Lake City.

“That message was changed to something that was hateful, racist and … unwelcome in our city,” said West Jordan City spokeswoman Marie Magers.

She added that city officials were made aware of the sign on Tuesday morning and immediately took action to remove it.

Magers thanks residents who were disgusted by the message and alerted the city for quickly removing the racist slur that was forcibly inserted into the sign.
