Houston Texans: Desmond King issues bold warning to NFL ahead of promising campaign

The Houston Texans are on the rise. After missing the playoffs for three straight years, the Texans made some noise last season, advancing to the divisional round for the first time since 2019.

Houston now looks to capitalize on that success with an even bigger year in 2024. For his part, All-Pro cornerback Desmond King is very much in the mix.

King returned to the Texans midway through last season after parting ways with the Pittsburgh Steelers. After helping Houston advance to the divisional round in 2023, King signed an extension with the team in March.

The 29-year-old has now expressed what he thinks his team is capable of this year:

“I’m starting my fourth year in Houston. I’ve seen the evolution of the team and the organization just by being here for these first two years and seeing where it is now, knowing my abilities and what I can bring to the team, why not not be here with Houston? We are an up-and-coming team and we are here to stay. We’re just getting ready for the season and I’m here,” King said, via Aaron Wilson of Click2Houston.com.

“Blood, sweat and tears”

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce (14) and Houston Texans cornerback Desmond King II (25) have an exchange on the field Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024, during a game against the Houston Texans at Lucas Oil Stadium from Indianapolis.

King knows what he brings to the Texans, and he’s liked what he’s seen from his teammates so far this offseason. So he expects big things in 2024:

“Honestly, it’s all about staying focused on the goal,” King said. “We know what kind of team we have. That said, you see it every day in the locker room. This is what we do when we go out into the field. Yes, we have noise. We have the hype behind us, but that’s not the case on the training ground when we’re out there working. »

“That’s what it’s about. We put in blood, sweat and tears every day. We know what we have and we have to believe in what we have, and that’s what really matters.

The rest of the league better be ready.
