UPDATE: Chattanooga police arrest woman in connection with fatal Eastgate shooting | Local News

TO UPDATE: Chattanooga police have arrested 26-year-old Tampari Chanity Upshaw in connection with a fatal shooting in Eastgate that left a 27-year-old man dead.

Before the murder, surveillance video showed two people getting out of a black Hyundai Tucson and shooting the victim multiple times. A third suspect standing next to the car also fired more shots.

According to police, the car was engulfed in flames just minutes after the murder.

Surveillance video led police to identify Upshaw. She eventually admitted to being the driver of the car and serving the homicide suspects.

According to police, Upshaw will be charged with accessory after the fact.

The identities of the other suspects have not yet been released.

Police said they were called to the 900 block of Eastgate Loop around 10 a.m. and found a 27-year-old man at the scene with life-threatening gunshot wounds.

According to police, the preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was walking through a parking lot in the area at the time of the shooting.

The police assume that the victim was apparently targeted by the shooter.

According to police, the victim was taken to a hospital where he later died.

His name has not been released.
