Minors gang-raped in UP, 3 youths arrested

In a bizarre incident in Bhadohi, a town in Uttar Pradesh, a minor girl (16) was allegedly raped by three teenagers. The three accused also made a video of the shameful act and uploaded it on the Internet, police said on Friday.

The three defendants are young people between the ages of 15 and 17 and have been arrested, police said.

The rape incident

Gopiganj SHO Santosh Kumar Singh said that on June 1, the girl went to a shop in the neighbourhood and the three minor boys then forced her, dragged her into a room and took turns to rape her.

He added that they also recorded the video and threatened her. The crime did not end there as the boys threatened the girl to visit the store again but when the girl refused, the boys posted the video on social media.

Measures taken

According to him, the victim’s relatives rushed to the police and filed a complaint against the three youths as soon as they came to know about the incident. According to Singh, the three boys were sent to a juvenile detention centre in Mirzapur area on Friday while the girl was sent for medical examination.
