Severe weather warning for Pittsburgh: Thunderstorm warnings issued

The heat continues Tuesday after Monday’s heat brought a late storm that knocked out power to thousands in the Pittsburgh area. Tuesday’s weather will be nearly identical to Monday’s, with a maximum heat index of 35 to 40 degrees around noon. Another round of isolated storms will move in after 3 p.m., bringing heavy rain and strong winds. The threat of severe weather should subside by sunset.>> WHERE TO FIND COOLING CENTERS? A heat warning will remain in effect for the rest of the week. Daytime highs of 35 to 40 degrees will continue through Saturday. The region is entering a period of highs of 35 degrees and above.
