Howard Hughes awards 32 college scholarships to local students

Prominent Houston developer Howard Hughes awarded 32 scholarships to graduates who attended high schools in Bridgeland and The Woodlands, two of the company’s planned communities.

“We are honored to support the higher education efforts of these deserving scholars as they embark on their academic aspirations,” Jim Carman, president of the Houston region of Howard Hughes, said in a press release. “Howard Hughes continued our tradition of awarding scholarships to high school graduates within our communities. Through our HHCares initiative, we look forward to building on this momentum as future graduates emerge each year.

General scholarships, as well as the Howard Hughes Executive Club Scholarships, the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarships and the Gerald D. Irons, Sr. Scholarships, were awarded to 32 high school graduates from Bridgeland High School, The John Cooper School. , Oak Ridge High School, Tomball High School, Waller High School, Willis High School, The Woodlands Christian Academy, The Woodlands College Park High School and The Woodlands High School.

Since the creation of the Howard Hughes Education Finance Initiative in the 1980s, the developer has awarded nearly 470 scholarships to local students seeking higher education.
