One person killed in standoff with Davidson County officials

According to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, one person was killed in a confrontation with police officers in Davidson County on Monday.

The shooting occurred on Bethesda Road near Ridge Road in Lexington after someone called 911 to report a gun being fired in the area.

Officers responded, and a shootout with the suspect ensued, according to the sheriff’s office.

“After a lengthy standoff, the suspect was later found dead in the house,” officials say.

The names of the person killed and the officers involved have not yet been released by the authorities.

“The officers involved will be detained until the investigation is complete,” the sheriff’s office said.

The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations is also investigating, which is standard procedure in shootings involving police officers.
