NJ Transit service restored at NY Penn Station – NBC New York

Another day, another problem for NJ Transit riders. And it’s spreading fast.

NJ Transit resumed service to and from New York’s Penn Station on Tuesday, about an hour after it was shut down entirely due to problems with Amtrak’s overhead wires and a stranded train at the transit hub.

Initial delays of one hour turned into a complete disruption around 8 a.m., just as rush hour began. By 9:15 a.m., NJ Transit said service had resumed with delays of up to 90 minutes remaining.

Midtown Direct trains are being rerouted to Hoboken.

NJ Transit rail tickets and passes will be accepted by NJ Transit buses, private transit agencies and PATH at Newark, Hoboken and 33rd Street, NJ Transit said.

“NJ TRANSIT and Amtrak are working together to resolve the issue and determine the root cause,” a statement on the website said.
