USPS employee reports being attacked by a dog in his Lincoln County home

FAYETTEVILLE, Tenn. (WHNT) – A United States Postal Service employee was assaulted and suffered serious injuries when a dog attacked her, according to a report from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department (LCSD).

The LCSD incident report states that Deputy Freddie Arnold was dispatched to a dog bite report on Harbin Road on Saturday, June 15. Arnold met the victim in the emergency room at Lincoln Medical Center.

The postal worker stated she was bitten by a white dog with black spots on its back. She was delivering a package when the attack occurred. She told Deputy Arnold that the garage door was open and as she was putting the package down, a dog appeared and bit her left arm.

The dog reportedly wouldn’t let go of her, no matter how hard she tried to get away. She told the officer she had to get out a can of dog spray and spray the dog three times before he let her go.

After getting back into her vehicle, she called her boss and went to the hospital to receive treatment for her injuries. The police report states the woman suffered severe injuries to her left forearm and stab wounds to the inside and outside of her arm.

Deputy Arnold arrived at the house and saw a white dog with spots attacking him. He got back in his car and called animal control to the house.

He informed the homeowner of the situation. When the owner returned home, Arnold and animal control were speaking with her when they noticed an orange spot on the dog’s left jaw that matched the dog spray the woman had been told to use.

In a conversation with animal control, the owner said that the dog had not received a rabies vaccination or any other vaccinations.

The report states that animal control took the dog and told the owner that he had two weeks to provide vaccination records before he could release the dog back.

Apparently no charges were filed in connection with this incident.
