Kim tried to stop the Honda and reached into it, but was struck by the moving vehicle, according to the CHP. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 17-year-old passenger in the back seat was unable to stop the vehicle from rolling over and crashing into a tree next to the driveway. He was uninjured.

The incident is currently under investigation, the CHP said.
